Derby Resolutions 2008

I hereby solemnly promise not to miss practice in order to watch America's Next Top Model. Also, I will not slack at practice. I will volunteer to jam. When Coach Betty says 'Ladies, push yourselves!' I will push myself. I will skate as often as possible, as hard as possible.

Furthermore, I promise to go to the gym more than once a week. Further furthermore, I will no longer stop at Krispy Kreme in Penn Station, and I will stop eating like a polar bear getting ready for hibernation.

Word.

2 Swans

There are two for reals white swans that like to hang out in the bog between Newark and Secaucus. I've seen then twice this week out the window of my train. Neat! They look out of place.

It am snowing!

But I don't care, because I have laid in a stock of mac'n'cheese, and I picked up some petits fours from Zaro's in the train station. So I'm good.

I am humbled

by the many birfday wishes! Y'all are too much, for reals.

So, I was having the kind of birfday weekend where it seemed I could have some, but not all of what I wanted. Just in little ways; my bookstore didn't have The Kid by Dan Savage, so I got Slam by Nick Hornby instead, the restaurant we went to didn't have cake so we went to a diner and I ended up getting apple crisp anyway, my dad sent me an iPresent and I accidentally set the language to Danish (so now it's Muzik and Fotografie instead of Music and Photography.)

But I thought, it'd be really cool if the Giants won. And for the first half it really didn't seem like they would, and then in the second half they seemed like maybe they could, and then of course there was the final touch-down in the last minute of the game. So yay!

And now I'm wondering if the nomination is going to go the way I kind of want it to. I feel about as strongly as I did about the Giants game - I'm no football fan, but hey, I thought, it's my birthday, it'd be nice if the home team won, despite playing against a more consistent, highly favored team. And they did, and the Patriots' coach sulked off the field while Eli Manning accepted his MVP award looking happy and in shock, and today we had a ticker tape parade which I missed because I was at a career fair trying to sell marketing jobs to econ majors.

But, you know... they pulled it off, and at the last possible second. The home team won! The good guys! I mean, probably they're not really good guys, but THEY wouldn't have sulked off the field, probably. Maybe.

So... it could happen.
